Duties and Responsibilities of the Grama Panchayat President

The Grama Panchayat President is the people's representative who leads the administration of the Grama Panchayat. Coordination of the development activities, public services and financial affairs of the Panchayat and the main duties of the President.

Main Duties:

Lead the administration of the Grama Panchayat.

Convene and preside over the meetings of the Panchayat Committee.

Supervise the implementation of the decisions of the Panchayat.

Lead the formulation and implementation of annual plans, development plans and budget.

Supervise the activities of the Panchayat employees and ensure efficient service delivery.

Take necessary steps to provide basic services like sanitation, drinking water, street lighting, public health etc.

Coordinate development activities in collaboration with government departments and other institutions.

Take necessary interventions and decisions in disaster management and emergency situations.

Ensure financial discipline of the Panchayat and protection of public property.

Lead the activities of the Gram Sabhas and promote public participation.
